Off to New Shores - Chronoswiss presents the new Pacific model line

The Pacific Ocean seems to stretch to infinity, which is certainly what attracted adventurers, discoverers, and seafarers of yore searching out new shores. The Pacific also set the scene for one of watchmaking’s greatest moments: it was here that Captain James Cook proved once and for all that the marine chronometer could be used to determine longitude. The name of Chronoswiss’s Pacific line thus stands for pioneering spirit, innovation, and exploration. The Pacifics’ striking cases are literally steeled for use in every kind of adventure and challenge that daily life has to offer. Whether used in the office or outdoors, sporty, functional design and utilitarian characteristics like higher water resistance (10 atm/100 m), optimal legibility around the clock, and an integrated date window remain advantageous.

The original Pacific, a legendary model line that Chronoswiss launched in the early 1990s, wrote its own chapter of watch history with its sporty versatility. Almost twenty years later, a second generation sets new standards with its classic, sporty design. The high, slightly domed sapphire crystal, ground inside and out, is especially striking and was inspired by traditional watchmaking of the 1950s and 60s. Like the historical Pacific family, the new interpretation is currently being presented as a trio: the Pacific and Grand Pacific models are three-handed watches in two different sizes; the Pacific Chronograph is a stopwatch for the wrist with luminescent green-colored accents.

At first glance surprisingly different, it is the second glance that identifies the Pacific as typical Chronoswiss: despite a fresh, sporty, dynamic design the Pacific models carry very characteristic elements identifying them without a doubt as belonging to the Munich-based brand: both the patented screw-mounted strap bars and the modern interpretation of the legendary onion-style crown—which, very cleverly, is only recognizable as such from a side perspective. When the watch is viewed from the side, the typical vertical polishing of the case is also noticeable, the matte look of which makes for an effective contrast to the polished bezel and emphasizes Chronoswiss´ highly developed expertise in case design.

Like all Chronoswiss models, the Pacific watches also allow their owners to look deeply into the movement through the sapphire crystal case back. Attention to detail is visible in even the smallest nuance of the dial (such as the subtle, efficient Super-LumiNova coating for optimal legibility both day and night), which features contrasts of matte and shiny effects. The modern Zephyr hand shape and lavishly applied dial markers lend the Pacific a new face interpreting the traditional line in a contemporary way and distinguishing the new edition as an elegant yet sporty all-rounder.
