Shared sorrow is half the sorrow, shared joy is double the joy – especially when you can share the joy with children. To help make the dreams of seriously ill children come true, Chronoswiss has created an exquisite and unique watch, the Sirius Lion Heart, which is dedicated to those children who must face their difficult fate with the courage of a lion. All profits from the sale at auction of this remarkably unique piece will go entirely to the Make-A-Wish Foundation Switzerland.
This commitment to children is a tradition at Chronoswiss. The brand has supported charity organizations like the World Childhood Foundation established by Queen Sylvia of Sweden and the Initiative Horizon e.V. time and again. In 2013, it participated with great success in Only Watch auction, where more than CHF 50,000 were generated from the sale of the Chronoswiss unique timepiece.
Craftsmanship par excellence
Based on a dial made of solid white gold that was hand-engraved, the Sirius Lion Heart shows the fascinating refinement that is possible with traditional hand craftsmanship. Using a cloisonné enamel technique, the motif is applied in numerous individual sections with fine gold wire bent by hand. Modeled after the Lucerne landmark that is located near the house of Chronoswiss, the exclusive one-of-a-kind piece shows a majestic lion with a Swiss flag. The individual sections are colorfully enameled in several layers and passes so that they change as the light plays across them and the king of wildlife gleams in sumptuous colors.
Even the "back" of the lion is something to see – through the sapphire crytstal, you can see a filigree skeletonized mechanism with floral details, deep in the heart of the watch. This was skeletonized by hand and then likewise elaborately decorated by hand on an historic rose engine.
Make-A-Wish makes children's wishes come true and creates unforgettable experiences far removed from the difficult everyday lives of the affected families. Fulfilling their greatest dream gives the children strength and hope again to continue to battle their illness.
Make-A-Wish Switzerland was founded in 2003 and is affiliated with Make-A-Wish International. The organization covers 48 countries on five continents. With the help of 30,000 volunteers, more than 334,000 children's dreams have been fulfilled all around the world since 1980. Each year over 250’000 people are touched by a wish in one way or another, and every 22 minutes, a wished is fulfilled somewhere in the world.
